A day exploring the salt flats of the Andean altiplano
In the morning, we head east from San Pedro, stopping to enjoy breakfast at the foot of the nearby Licancabur Volcano. From here we will go to explore the wetlands and mountain views of the Quepiaco river, home to many flamingos, ducks and local birdlife. We continue on to visit the monks of Pacana- huge stone pillars rising vertically out of the desert. Our journey then takes us to the Salar de Quisquiro and the Salar de Aguas Calientes, a walk to admire the coloured waters, and local fauna, before beginning our return to town.
Pick-up from your accommodation between 08:00 and 08:30. We return to San Pedro de Atacama at approximately 15:00.
